((It’s all good, I’m not great at fighting scenes, anyway))

As Destrian went to pick a weapon and others cleared the debris, Alexander’s knight, Andrew, walked over and stood next to Quin. He’d been with Alexander since he was a child and knew him as well as any of his siblings. Perhaps a bit better. Quin looked up at him as the two seemed to take position.

"You will stop it if Alexander loses himself, right?" He asked quietly. Several times when Alexander sparred like this, he would start to see red. He nearly killed Quin once until put a stop to it.

"Yes, I will stop it if I think it necessary." Hopefully that wasn’t necessary though. Quinn turned to watch the March and saw Alexander swing. Clearly Destrian was taking the defensive, which was best in Quin's opinion.

You know that place between sleep and awake? The place you can still remember dreaming? That's where I'll always love you, Peter Pan. That's where I'll be waiting.

Alexander's sword cleaved through the air, striking so fast that the sound of steel cutting through the wind was heard. Every now and then, one could hear the striking and swinging of blades but never the sound of steel going through fabric and flesh. The prince's patience was growing thin as the knight before him seemed to see through his every movement, always dodging or blocking moments before his attack should hit. The fact that he couldn't injure the man, only cutting through the ends of the knight's hair at most who, in turn, clearly lacked the fear and urgency that one should show from fighting him, infuriated him.

He jumped back and held his sword over his shoulder, his free hand aiming at the knight in front of him. A smirk crept upon his lips as he felt the energy collect on the edge of his blade. And with a swing, an arc of black light full of killing intent flew at the knight.

Destrian's eyes widened as he felt the surge of energy from the prince and jumped back to hurriedly form a shield out of his own to block the attack. When the arc hit, he saw his half-formed shield shatter under the pressure and the last remnants of black energy cut through his armor and into his shoulder, painting his clothes red.

Quin could see what was happening, but there was nothing he could do to stop it. After the attack was over Andrew stepped forward. He knew the prince would keep going if he wasn’t stopped now.

"Alexander." His voice was firm, but it didn’t sound like he was commanding him. "I believe you have won. Congratulations." His way of stopping the fight without the prince becoming angry. And also reminding him of what would happen if he actually killed the knight in a spar.

Quin had his eyes on Destrian and he saw the blood from his shoulder. "Are you alright?" He asked, walking closer. No, stupid question. "How bad is it?" He asked instead.

Alexander calmed as soon as he heard Andrew's voice and his eyes turned cold when his knight reminded him of the consequences. He harrumphed and sheathed his sword, and when took a look at the injured knight, he couldn't help but smirk. "It would be best to have the priests look at that." And with that, he left the training field, his knight following after.

Destrian handed the sword to a squire before taking a look at his shoulder which was already throbbing with pain. It was nothing compared to the injuries he incurred during his training, but pain was still pain and a few droplets of sweat had already formed on his forehead. "The pauldron took the brunt of the attack but I believe my clavicle needs to be reset once again." He told Quin as he took the armor off and pressed his hand against the wound. "I do think it would be best to visit a healer, your highness. And," he chuckled, "yes, other than the fractured bone, I'm alright."

Quin couldn't help but glare at Alexander when he said Destrian should see a priest. It was almost like he wanted Quin to be without a knight. However, he left and Quin focused on Destrian. Right, priest.

"There's one in the chapel." There was always at least one priest in the chapel. And they were always the best. The wound didn't look good. Alexander really had tried to kill him. "Are you okay to get there? Or should I bring one here?" He asked after a moment.

"I can make it. This isn't the worst of my injuries. I've had to survive through worse." Destrian answered as he remembered slogging through the forest, tripping over roots, and slipping over the mud caused by torrential rain while a stick was tied over his broken leg and his wounds were wrapped by bandages and cloth. Sir Howellt had told him to hunt a bear a few days prior and the bear got the better of him. "If a simple wound on my shoulder would disable me, then how am I worthy of being a knight?"

Quin felt his face get a bit warm when Destrian mentioned surviving through worse. "Oh, um, yeah..." He clearly just wanted the knight to be okay. After a moment he started walking, making sure that Destrian was following every now and then.

Finally they made it to the chapel and Quin saw a priest inside. Thankfully one of the priests who was very talented in healing. However, his personality was a bit strange. In order to get help without having to jump through hoops and answer questions, Quin was going to have to ask. He didn't question the royal family.

"My knight requires healing." He said simply. The priest looked up and saw the wound on his shoulder. He walked over to help, but was grumbling about it.

"You knights...always going overboard in practice...never gonna learn..." It clearly wasn't the first time one had come walking in with something broken or bleeding. "Maybe I should stop healing knights. Oughta teach ya." Despite how the priest clearly agitated the prince, he couldn't show it. Princes had to be composed.

"He doesn't need a lecture, thank you" was all it took to shut the man up and get to work.

Eruvandir
Destrian smiled at the priest who kept complaining but still did his job. He reminded him of an inn owner they once met, who grumbled about waking him in the dead of night during a blizzard but still gave them a room, hot soup, and extra blankets, more than they asked for. The old man proceeded to kick them out of the inn in the morning, though, because the storm had left the area.

He felt a slight dicomfort as muscles reattached and bones regrew, a feeling one would always have when getting healed by a priest. When the healing light dimmed and the priest grumbled away, giving Destrian no time to thank him. He looked out of the chapel windows and noticed the sun setting on the horizon. His first day as Quin's knight was nearing its end.

"I apologize for the trouble, my- Quin. It was because of my incapability to perform in a fight that I got injured."

Destrian spoke and it confused Quin. He seriously thought he was incapable? He shook his head. "You did better than I’ve seen before. When Alexander gets mad, other knights barely last half as long as you did." He told him. "And end up far worse. I guess we just picked a bad time to see the training fields..." And that was all on Quin.

"I’m sorry you got dragged into that." Quin wouldn’t have lasted that long, but only because of Alexander’s sheer strength. He looked outside. "We should head back...it’s almost time for dinner."

Destrian nodded and 'escorted' Quin to the great hall. Although, walking beside Quin and not knowing where they were heading, he wasn't sure if he really was escorting the prince. They entered the great hall and he took everything in. The chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and the torches by the walls lit the large room. A group of bards were singing and playing their instruments in the far corner and the few nobles were sitting at a long table to the left while knights, some wearing their armor and some wearing fine robes, sat at the long table to the right. He spotted the king, his wife, and the princes and princesses sitting at the high table at the further end of the hall.

He followed Quin to his table and bowed to the royal family before heading back down to sit with the other knights. There, he was received with grins and a tankard of ale was pushed into his arms. "Dinner's about to be served. Sit down, boy. It's not every day we get new blood here. They send most new knights to the fiefs."
