I hate to disagree with everyone, but I think it may sometimes be a good argument.

I don't think that someone having it worse is a reason to discount someone's problems, but that doesn't mean that it isn't a fair point.

It's a good way to get yourself to snap out of a funk.

It's important to keep in mind what others go through to give your problems the right importance.
But I also think that you are allowed to suffer for a reason that isn't as important as some issues.

I agree. I think this is what I was attempting to say but said much better. Thank you.

Your sorrow is your own. Everyone's capable of empathy but I don't think one can always measure one sorrow or problem more than another.
Just as you don't need justification to be happy, you shouldn't have to justify your complaining as 'It really is bad enough to complain about.'
Nobody can define what's bad enough to bother about.
Everyone's feelings are entitled some respect. You don't necessarily have to pat their shoulder but you can respect their problems.
And yes sometimes it's an argument that might get you to pull yourself together. But to an extent, like I don't think you can make yourself feel better thinking about people who are suffering a lot more, that seems a bit, idk, savage. (random retrieval from memory but Anne Frank said something about that.)
